Daniell Manor (Est.1901 “Susan Daniell House”) was constructed for the widow of John Daniell, owner of Tamarack Mining Co., after his death in 1898.
The Manor was designed by Charlton, Gilbert & Demar, the same architectural firm that created the campus for the Michigan College of Mines, now Michigan Technological University.
After Susan’s death in 1923, the Manor passed through several families’ hands until it was acquired by the Upper Peninsula Health Systems Agency. An addition was built on the south end of the house and the property was established as Laurium Elders Home until 1982.
In 2018, Copper Island Properties acquired the Manor and began a set of renovations. Our goal has been to preserve the historical beauty of the building’s details and provide a way for the public to experience this space up close.
